Facts and figures

Siret - a small Europe in a big union

SIRET CITY is located in North East of Romania, in Suceava district, on the right bank of the Siret River.

Siret City borders to Ukraine at North.

The city numbers 9.400 inhabitants, having different ethnic structures as Romanian, Ukrainian, Polish and German.

At the beginning of the XXth century there was a very strong Jew community, but most of the members left for Israel. Nowadays we have no Jew representants in the aria.

Confessionally speaking, we have Orthodox, Greco Catholics, Romano Catholics and Protestants.

Siret City is part of the historical region Moldavia, one of the three princedoms that formed the state Romania.

The place where the city is located is known as the Old High Country, (a designation attached to Moldavia centuries ago) and as Bukovina.

This denomination of Bukovina or Beech Country was imposed by the Austrian empire to name this region after being annexed to it. In time, this term has become a familiar one and it is very common nowadays.
